NAK is one of my favorite rappers and his music has been a powerful force of good in my life (may even write about it in the future). I decided that because he didn’t sell his own shirts, I’d just design my own, because I really wanted one. So I got his permission and went ahead and had it made.
It finally came today, and I’m super excited. Can’t wait to rock this proudly. (ignore the derp and the hurricane-room, I still haven’t really moved in from college)
Edit: My Mom saw it and asked me “What’s nakki-pop?” I cracked up. Took me a little while to explain to her that his name was “NAK” and hip hop is his genre and that it’s just his website.
Food Adventures at Barbuzzo (my place of work)
I’m currently lucky to be working at a fairly nice Mediterranean restaurant with absolutely excellent food, and I particularly love their pizzas. Sometimes I’ll treat myself at the end of a shift to a half-off (we get discounts wooo) choice from the menu. Additionally, sometimes the cooks will let us experiment with the menu, or even experiment on their own!
If you can’t tell, I love food…
Left: The Patata Pizza has sliced potato fingerlings, gorgonzola “dulce”, red onion, pecorino, and pistachio pesto. All of this on top of our supposedly “secret” white sauce. This sounded great and all, and then the cook offered to put eggs and bacon on it, which my co-worker immediately recognized as an attempt to make a psuedo breakfast-pie because of the potato. Needless to say, it was stupidly good… Oh yeah, and that’s dried Sicilian oregano on the side, and a diet coke GOTTA WATCH THEM CALORIES
Right: My coworker decided he’d make his own pizza by simply telling the cook what to put on it. He dubbed it the Barbuzzo Mexipizza. It’s got sausage, mushrooms, peppers, onions, red sauce, and sheep’s milk ricotta (aka the “sour cream” LOL!) I didn’t get a chance to try it, but boy did it look heavenly. Sidenote: Sheep’s milk ricotta is like the greatest thing to happen to…ricotta…ever.

A peek in to Chills Best Volume 3. Dig.
Chills Best Collection
A while ago I created a compilation album dubbed “Chills Best” for a couple friends of mine to share my favorite hip-hop at the time. After a positive reception, I soon created another album and called it the “Chills Best Collection”, which consisted of two separate volumes. I never really distributed the compilation outside of 5 or 6 people, and I released it on Tumblr a couple times just for people to check out if they were interested.
Recently, I decided that it’s been quite a while (and it really has) since I made a compilation, so I went ahead and created a third volume. It ended up having double the tracks of any one of the previous volumes, but that was simply due to the huge time gap.
But anywho, here’s the full collection. Give it a shot if you’re in to the chill.
Chills Best Collection (contains all volumes)
Note: The third volume has a wider range in style compared to the first two, just as a heads up.
Thanks for listening!
I feel like I’m abnormal on Tumblr in that I’ve been using it for so long and yet I only follow 40-some people (Edit: I’m now realizing it’s actually even less because many of the people I follow are inactive now). Most people I know that have a Tumblr follow easily double, triple, quadruple that number. Their dashes are full of content to the point that there’s no possible way they can even keep up with it.
That’s essentially my issue. I can’t follow that many people. For the most part, the people I follow on Tumblr I genuinely enjoy following, and I actually care about what people write. I can keep up with my dash perfectly well each day, even if I stop and read every post that is made, and that’s because I want to. I don’t want to miss what people say or write. It bothers me that people with overflowing dashes can literally miss a person’s entire post. They can miss plenty, in fact.
Now I understand that there are plenty of ways to use Tumblr, but that’s just how I personally use it. I make it a point to be able to see all posts by those that I follow.
P.S. “Like”s too. People that I follow may notice that I like a lot of their posts, to the point that it might seem ridiculous, but essentially it comes down to these simple facts: If I follow you, I read everything that you write, and if I like it, I like it, and chances are if I follow you, I follow you because I like what you write, so that’s just a recipe for consistent likes. Yep.

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. Staying up till 5AM paid off for once!
If only my NAK shirt came in too…
On my way home from work each night I walk by this neat little open-mic bar. Often times I’ll be walking by mid performance and I almost always stop to listen (the performers are set up right next to a giant open window) because well, I like to! This particular night there was a jazz group performing, and being a giant jazz fan, I was super excited to be able to stop and listen, especially because I (normally) have a great view of the drummer, although unfortunately an amp blocked most of the view that night. The drummer was absolutely excellent, and it reminded me of my old days in the jazz band at my high school and the jazz clubs sponsored by the school district. I miss that. But anyway, god damn, the guy was grooving.
If you can, listen to the drum solo, it’s awesome.
(you’ll also notice that there are a lot of conversations going on around me, including one of my own that I was having with a seemingly homeless man about the glories of jazz music XD)
For those of you that don’t know, I work at a Mediterranean restaurant as a busser. The restaurant itself is owned by a few people that own several restaurants on the same block, so naturally the managers from two different restaurants sometimes need to communicate with each other. Occasionally, my manager writes a note and has me run it to a manager at another restaurant down the street, almost always asking for bottles of liquor that we need at the bar. He usually tells me not to read the notes either, though he has told me that he does stuff like this all the time. Today, he specifically told me that I could read this one.
Thanks, Andy!
So remember when I said I was going to start learning guitar and I bought that guitar? Well, I recently just got an uke too! Lots of fun! Starting by learning basically everything Adventure Time…
OR I could just wait another 2 hours and watch the new Korra AS IT AIRS. Hmmmmmmmm, decisions decisions.
Gonna lay down at least.
